How to make them:

As I’m sure you can see from my last couple of recipes, I am loving my new Instant Pot.  It makes weeknight dinners quick and easy. Here’s how to make Instant Pot 15 Minute Sloppy Joe’s.  Gathering all the ingredients and sending the carrots through the food processor to shred them finely, should take you less than 5 minutes.  Then:

1 ) Turn the Instant Pot to ‘Saute’ mode.

2 ) Add the ground beef and shredded carrots to the Instant Pot.  Using a wooden or plastic spatula, break the meat up into small pieces as the beef browns.

3 ) As soon as the beef is fully cooked, add the spices, ketchup, mustard, and vinegar.  Stir together and let cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.

4 ) The sloppy joe’s are cooked and ready to serve.  It’s really that simple!

Frozen ground beef? No problem!

LIFESAVER TIP for anyone that forgot to pull the ground beef from the freezer!!

Instructions for making Instant Pot 15 Minute Sloppy Joe’s with frozen ground beef:

1 ) In the bottom of the Instant Pot place the trivet and 1 ½ cups water.  Place the frozen ground beef on the trivet.

2 ) Place lid on Instant Pot, turn the valve to seal, press ‘Pressure Cook’ and manually adjust time to 30 minutes.

3 ) When it’s done cooking and beeps, turn the valve to release the pressure (caution, the steam will be very hot!).  Once the pressure valve button drops, remove the Instant Pot lid.

4 ) Carefully lift out the trivet with ground beef on it.  Dump out excess water from Instant Pot. Carefully replace browned ground beef (without trivet) to the Instant Pot.

5 ) Press the ‘Saute’ button and manually adjust the time to 10 minutes.  Using a wooden or plastic spatula break the beef up into small pieces. (If the ground beef did not fully cook during the initial time in the Instant Pot, the beef will finish cooking during this Saute mode.)

6 ) Add the spices, ketchup, mustard, and vinegar.  Stir together and let cook for 2-3 minutes. Turn Instant Pot off and serve sloppy joe’s OR turn on ‘Keep Warm’ until dinner is served.
